What is Cable Technician | Responsibility of the Cable Technician.


A cable technician is a qualified worker employed by a cable service provider. Cable technicians are responsible for installing the new service, updating the old service, and maintaining current services. In the morning, a list of stops to be made before the end of the day is sent to the technicians. They are equipped with a vehicle and commercial tools. Technicians work in various settings, such as residential apartments and houses, office buildings, and commercial spaces.

No higher education is required than a high school diploma, but most employers prefer a college or university degree. New installations require cables to pass through the various structures of a building. Having previous experience in the industry is an advantage for anyone who wants to work as a cable technician. Technicians often have to access floors 2 and 3 for installations. Applicants should feel comfortable working at height and off the stairs. With enough experience, technicians can advance management.

Responsibility of the cable technician.
  • Join the SOS meeting (start of shift)
  • Coordinate with sending daily appointments.
  • Consumables inventory to confirm the availability of the necessary consumables.
  • Contact inventory control to restock supplies.
  • Inspect the vehicle before departure and record all problems.
  • Notification to all ETA customers
  • Always use all identification, security and courtesy equipment.
  • Delivery report and delays in program execution.
Cable Technician Qualifications
  • Grade (preferred)
  • Previous business experience is an advantage
  • Excellent skills in written and verbal communication.
  • Strong problem solving capabilities
  • Ability to follow instructions exactly
  • Comfortable work at height and off scale
  • A valid driver's license
  • Run a background check
  • Availability to undergo a random drug test
